At This Is My Life CIC our programmes are designed to support Care-Experienced young people in finding out about their history, expressing their identity and making positive steps toward independence. We offer an inspiring mix of creative practice, mentoring and accredited learning to encourage confidence, skills and resilience. Each activity is rooted in the idea that individual growth starts with understanding who you are — and each young person should have the chance to create his or her own narrative.
Our Life Story Work programme offers young people a secure and supported environment to explore their own background and history in care. With the help of guided reflection, creative writing, visual narrative and their own personalized Life Story Booklet, participants are able to have some new understanding about where they come from and who they are. As they piece through time, past to present their emotional wellbeing enhances, allowing them to feel more self realised and confident in their plans for their life.
Our mentoring scheme matches YP with trained mentors who know what it’s like to grow up or leave care. Each mentoring relationship is designed to establish a strong foundation of trust, building life skills and setting manageable personal goals around education, employment, health and wellbeing. “Support” is the guiding principle, and it’s consistent and practical: helping participants grow in independence, self belief and make good decisions about their future, relationships and the next step into adult life.
We empower youth to find their voice through creativity and technology. Participants learn through music, podcasting, film and media production workshops how to share their powerful stories in empowering and professional ways. Each session encourages teamwork, communication and technical skill as their lived experience is transformed into art that may inspire others. These shared creative experiences help to foster confidence, digital skills, and self-expression — so every young person is seen, heard and celebrated.
We are working in partnership with local authorities, fostering agencies, schools and community groups to improve the support provided for care-experienced children. What we’re aiming for are much longer-term partnerships that allow us to share resources, expertise and opportunities so that every young person has access to sustained guidance and engaging experiences. By joining forces, we hope to form one interconnected network that upholds young people in communities.

You’ve made the right choice, we’re here to support children to understand their past and believe in their future.
